Re: APC40 troubleshooting

In case anyone has the same problem and finds this via Google: for whatever reason, deleting all of my other MIDI devices in Audio MIDI Setup enabled my computer to detect the APC40. I haven't tried to add them back yet, so I'm not sure if the problem was a conflict with one of the devices I had ena...

APC40 troubleshooting

Hey gang, I have a new APC40 that isn't showing up in Live on my MBP. (I'm using Live 8.1.3 and OS X 10.6.3.) The lights come on, but I can't select it as a control surface in Live. If I check in Audio MIDI Setup, it appears as a "USB MIDI Device" with no input or output ports. All of the ...

Re: Audio Units Sidechain Option

Is this MIDI sidechain available while using the AUs in Logic? If so, how do you set it up? IIRC, you can insert, e.g., Filterscape or MFM2 as an AU MIDI FX on a new track. The MIDI you send to that track will go to Filterscape; you can select the sidechain (audio) input from the sidechain dropdown...

This capability is actually part of the Audio Unit spec, but a lot of developers don't implement sidechaining capabilities. Zebra 1 had a sidechain, though, and I'm pretty sure I have a few AU compressors that sidechain.

Perhaps I'm being totally thick, but how do you register the Stillwell plugins? I have a serial number and a key file, but I can't figure out where to enter this information into 1973.

There are some very cool things you can do with spectron, but it lacks the polish of the other izotope offerings IMHO. (I got it bundled.) The reports you hear about CPU are basically true. I didn't use it much on my G4 powerbooks because it was impossible to audition many things in real time if any...

I wish I had time to do just that before the price goes up, hence the stupid question. Thanks for the info, though -- a little "cleaner" is probably OK for most of my use.

PSP MixPack 2: worth the upgrade?

Hey, now that it's been out for a while, I'm wondering if anyone has a strong opinion about the MixPack upgrade. (I'm trying to decide whether or not to upgrade while it's still cheap....)

Most of the Audio Damage plugs that do anything time-based seem to have had trouble when running in a host that doesn't provide tempo information. (I've had this problem in Sample Manager.) I haven't used Rax in a while -- do you need to enable an internal clock?

Yeah, the lack of clear answer is sort of troubling -- especially since the "Pop Drums" pack explicitly states that it works in Kontakt and Battery, but the "Synthetic Drums" one doesn't.

Question about NI Kore Soundpacks

Hey all,

If I buy one of those "soundpacks" from NI, will I be able to edit the sounds included in the full version of, e.g. Battery, Kontakt, or Reaktor? Specifically, does anyone know if the Synthetic Drums Reloaded pack will be available to a full version of Kontakt or Battery?

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but it's never going to happen. Search the forum archives for "blockfish" for details. The basic gist is that due to conditions of the original author's current employment, the DFF plugs can't be updated.
