Oh! From reading the tech specs, the Audiobox 1818VSL seemed to have all balanced analog outs. Even if it doesn't, its outputs are far better than the Mac's headphone jack and the entire box is semi-isolated via digital USB connection. I still don't think the noise is in your system, per se, merely some flaw from the headphone jack and beyond. That said, is there any reason you weren't feeding your Yamahas 100% from your Presonus interface? I'd wager that would solve this issue, especially if you used balanced cables from the Pres...

Welcome, Don! Since the level doesn't change when you adjust the software volume on the iMac, I would guess the problem is somewhere in the hardware between your iMac and the Yamahas.
