Re: New MacPro Now, does it make sense?

My 1st Gen 3.0 Quad runs FCPX & the Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 Suite smoothly with the Radeon 5770, I have no complaints other than rendering & transcoding time. I may be crazy, but I think I'm gonna go for for a current MacPro 6-core 3.33 GHZ with a Radeon HD 5870. That should be enough of a performanc...

Re: New MacPro Now, does it make sense?

The current Mac Pro has been flawless, other than replacing the video card for a HD 5770 to keep up with new requirements. I really don't have a need or want for a new Mac right now but the wife has been spoiled & an iMac is not her thing. It's MBP or tower.:) Bang for buck I was thinking the curren...

New MacPro Now, does it make sense?

Hey, it's been awhile,:) I'm faced with a bit of a dilemma, my wifes MBP died a week ago so I am faced with purchasing a new Mac. I would rather get myself a new MacPro & pass my current 1st Gen 3.0 GHZ Quad over to her. Would you buy one now or wait for the all new MacPro Cylinder? I'm asking cause...

Re: Export to Movie ,Gone ???

The QuickTime Player version 10 is a 64 bit app yet Quicktime 7 is still 32 bit.
Logic uses Quicktime Pro , only available in Quicktime 7 for exporting audio to movie.
Pretty confusing....... I guess what we need is Quicktime Pro for Quicktime Player 10 but when?

Re: Any Tips for Keeping Mixer Environment Tidy?

I do this the old fashioned way as well, by creating a new layer in the environment I named Multis, which contains 6 Multi Instruments, 6 software instrument channels & 8 auxs for each of the instruments.
Easily accessed from the arrange via track header.

Re: Volume drop on track (Not automated!)

Maybe you have some kind of midi controller connected which sends midi controller volume information when you turn it on or when you accidentally nudge a control on it. I have a Roland VDrums kit which sends a burst of controller data including volume at the moment when I turn it on. If your volume...

Re: So is it safe to upgrade to Lion already?

Not the slightest bit interested in going Lion, unless Quicktime is 64 bit & HD Blue-ray burning is available in DVD Studio Pro.
Logic works just fine in Snow Leopard.
All the iCloud stuff is cool, all I need it for is to keep my .mac & .me email adresses :hehe:

Re: Need help with MIDI configuration...

There are 8 in 8 out usb midi interfaces on the market that work as stand alone patch bays as well.
I just find it easier to patch in the DAW than on the interface & the patches get saved with the project file.

Re: Need help with MIDI configuration...

The simplest way is to use an external midi patch bay with one of the ports for midi in & out going to your usb midi interface. The hard way, which I set up in Logic, requires a multi port midi interface ( I have the Motu MTP AV) & creating a layer in the environment to represent each port of the MT...

Re: Newbie: Logic in 64bit

The advantage of running in 64 bit are ram related. An application like Logic can only access 3.5 gigs or so of ram in 32 bit mode before it runs out of juice & quits. In 64 bit mode it is capable of using nearly all the ram installed on your computer. Very handy if you have large sample libraries &...

Re: I/O recording offset with 2882

I did all the above routings using Digital Performer 7.2.3 and the results are the same. 21 samples early.
Also ran loopback tests on my other firewire audio interfaces & the results are what I expected, so nothing has changed in my computer or hard drive setups. Very interesting. :)

Re: I/O recording offset with 2882

Hi I did the test with several different routings with the same result. 1. Cabled the 2882 analogue output 3 to analogue input 5. In Logic I set the output of the strip with the spike to output 3 mono & the input of a new mono audio track to 5. Recorded using the drop in & out to ensure that the sta...

Re: Newbie: Logic in 64bit

Logic 5 on windows to Logic 9 on Mac is a pretty huge jump forward in time. Like was the audio unit plugin format even invented then? The big consideration is not if your plugins will open in 64 bit but rather are there audio unit versions of your favourite VST plugins that will open at all. Logic n...
