Re: Melodic minor

Depends who you ask. Classical melodic minor has the notes raised when you ascend and lowered when you descend. Modern and Jazz melodic minor keeps then raised in both directions. Cutting through all of the BS...melodic minor gives you the benefit of major IV and V chords. You can choose to let it a...

I think you'll like them better, actually. The box is more flexible.

Re: Pentatonic Scales

Think about it like this: In the key of C major, here are the scales you get: C major pentatonic (C D E G A) D minor pentatonic (D F G A C) E minor pentatonic (E G A B D) F major pentatonic (F G A C D) G major pentatonic (G A B D E) A minor pentatonic (A C D E G) Of those six scales, there are only ...

Re: Forum update! New RSS URL

I think that Glenn does, and has done an exceptional job with the site. There isn't a cent in it for him and I know that I really appreciate that he's carrying the torch and keeping the lights on around here. Great work, Glenn!

A framework should not be bouncing in the dock... I'm not at all sure what to advise since I've never ever seen this. Hopefully, someone will chime in.

No worries... ;)

Isn't that a terrible name for an upward moving resolution?

Re: Sus chords

I was intentionally trying to keep the answer in the context the it was asked in, which was not common practice music theory. If it was, you'd be 100% right, but there are plenty of times, especially in Bach, where suspensions resolved up.

Re: Sus chords

Typically, back up to the E, if you're in C. Rush did this in "Closer to the heart"

Xsus2 Xsus4 X

Bach did:

Xsus4 Xsus2 X

(I can't remember what key it is...)

Re: Sus chords

Typically, Sus4 chords resolve either to the Sus2, or back to the major triad, so in your example, Csus4 typically resolves back to C with the F leading to the E. But you're right, it can go wherever you want as long as that chord leads with an E.

Re: Loving Sibelius 6

A agree. Sibelius 6 is an incredible release. I've been doing quite a bit of professional transcribing. Being able to use ReWire to keep Logic and Sibelius in sync is incredible. The Magnetic Layout keeps things looking tidy. The chord symbols are a great boon for me as well. It's also incredibly st...

Re: I can do this in Finale, how's it done in Sibelius?

I'll bookmark this thread and reply when I get my full copy. I don't want to get too into the demo as I can't save with it. Mine is on order and should be here this week (I hope).

Go to http://www.sibelius.com/6 for much more complete information.
I'd be happy to do some tutorials for Sibelius 6 once my copy arrives. What sorts of things would you like to learn more about?

Re: DB-25 cables for ULN-8

I use and love the Planet Waves. I beta tested those cables and they used very high end components to make those cables. I have my 2 ULN-8 outfitted with PW cables and I think they sound really great. I also have a few Redco cables that I got before the Planet Waves existed, and I can't tell any son...
