Logic's MIDI channel 10 is reserved for multi-timbral instruments. Any time a drum machine is used, it jumps to channel 10 ONLY ON THE MAPPED DRUMS TRACK. What do you mean by 'it jumps to cha 10' ? What jumps ? Maybe your issue was that the 'prg' checkbox wasn't checked on the cha 10 sub-channel, b...

You may be using the Trial version. You can find the manual for Express in the manuals section of Support on the Apple website. What you need to do is use a MIDI track, and have the track instrument assigned to the MIDI port which goes to the Drum Machine. You will find more about this in the logic ...

Do a normal surround bounce. Then, in the Finder, select the bounced files and drag them onto Quicktime in your dock. (assuming you have 'Pro' authorized.) and they will all open in individual players. Then do: Edit->New Player . Select each audio file player window in turn, and do 'select all' (com...

Actually, I think the confusion comes about from two un-related terms. step sequencer and step sequencing . Strictly speaking a pattern sequencer is the functionality that allows you to record or select patterns created on a step sequencer. (generally 16 steps or 4 steps per quarter note) Step-seque...

only multiple singular selection via shift click. It's always been that way, and that is 'logical' since it is consistent with shift+click in the arrange window. btw, if they changed it to the same as in the Finder, (i.e. a contiguous selection) then you would have no option for selecting non-conti...

Especially when I found out that Reznor was using Macs to do his stuff. I'd love to see a survey on the number of Macs sold on the strength of those CDs alone :) (or the interview with Reznor and Clouser where they went into a lot of detail about making Spiral) Not that they need it, but I hope som...

Ok, I'm very curious about this too.... I did all of this but I don't see any subchannels in the arrange. How do I access them? And do you have to first pick the sub channels in the environment before cabling to the multi instrument? I'm wondering if this creates the advantage of just being able to...

what's the advantage of using NRPNs over MIDI cc messages? Is it that the NRPNs offer greater resolution? No, not that they offer greater resolution, 14bit messages are also possible without using NRPNs (by sending 2 messages, an LSB and an MSB) By using NRPNS it is possible to address up to 16,384...

I downloaded the Micron manual from Alesis but couldn't find any MIDI implementation in it. (I could see nothing for the Micron on their sysex file downloads either.) How many NRPNs does the synth use ? How many parameters ? Does it not support any regular CC messages at all ? What may make more sen...

Its for this reason amongst others that I usually start a song at bar 9 - so I don't have to move the automation afterwards. And so I can easily insert an intro. It's a hangover from Notator but it's been handy more than a few times in Logic. I've always done the same. It's imperative when you use ...

Wow, David, thanks for the great (and sad?) anecdotes. Not really sad, from what I saw anyway. (I didn't know him well enough to be with him in his private moments) Sure it is sad that he died young, and that he couldn't kick alcohol, but I always remember him as a guy was a real bright spark. Alwa...

Not in Macros, because they don't have their own windows.
It appears in editor windows. (Matrix, Event, Score and Hyper) and in Folder windows.

It's easy for Live to implement MIDI learn the way it does, because it has a very simple MIDI Learn palette. Once you run out of events to assign, that is all. And that is good, for Live, because it's prime objective is too be a performance tool. Automation in Logic needs to go much further, you cou...
