Wormhole2 released!

Hey guys.. posting the latest creation I worked on. (did the User Interface)

It has moved from apulSoft(Adrian Pflugshaupt) to plasq

"Wormhole2 is for audio professionals and musicians, allowing routing of audio between machines on a network. Now you can make use of all the processing power in your studio. For example; set aside a machine for complex instruments or effects, route audio out to it, then back into your favorite DAW. Or route audio between your PCs and Macs to get the best of both worlds. Or share audio between laptops on stage. Or or or... there are lots of possibilities!

Wormhole2 is available for Mac VST + Audio Unit and Windows VST."

If you ever tried wormhole 1, definitely give this a go - it is almost an entirely new beast.

hehe, and we did the manual in Comic Life :) turned out pretty well though I think.

I bought it and it works great! CPU use seems to be much lighter than on v1 and it seems more robust in general. I'm going to be using this to run my mastering channel and reaktor5 on a pc tonight!

hi,
what are the limitations of the demo?
does it actually allow you to transmit audio?
i would like to judge the latency with it, so i'd have to have it functioning at least more than the Wormhole V.1 demo did

cheers! michael speaks very highly of this.

Thanks guys!

Johnny, thanks. yeah plasq is certainly doing well at the moment :)
adrian has mentioned an apTrigga upgrade - not sure what will be in that though. other than some UI stuff from me that is :)

adamjay, demo limits are:
- timeout after 30 min
- no more than 3 instances per host

A more friendly demo than wh1 for sure.

Where is Michael these days? I never see him on iChat anymore

hi

i am not near all my gear at the moments, so i can't test it out myself - can someone give me a super quick rundown of how it works?

so, could i run, say, battery2 or sampletank 2XL (Standalone?) on my laptop (pc) and logic on my mac and somehow get them working together - but how do you port the audio into logic? what about the midi - is the laptop plugin controlled by the mac, or the laptop?

thanks - can't wait to get the demo (probably tuesday though :()

wow, this thing rocks.
i just used the demo to farm a reverb on a G4 800mhz ibook.
i used an Ethernet cable and ended up with as low as 600 *samples* latency total (from pb to ibook back to pb)

beatsmith, basically it sends audio to another machine as a plugin.
the plugins can send and they can receive.

in the case of me using the reverb, i put a send Wormhole2, and a recieve Wormhole2 both in the return channel of Live 4 on my powerbook.
i then opened an audio channel in Live 4 on my g/f's ibook. and put a recieve Wormhole 2, the reverb, and the send Wormhole2... in that order.

so the audio went to the return on the pb - out of the pb over ethernet, into the ibook, through the reverb, out of the ibook, into the pb, and into the return.
and total, it only took 600ms. but with latency compensation, it all syncs up.

as far as midi, i don't know.

but i'm extremely impressed. i plan to purchase this next month when i have the money to do so. and then a Mac Mini to turn into a DSP box =D

well done Plasq!

edit... earlier i had said 600ms, i meant 600 samples (about 13ms)

it would certainly allow you to run more instances, or "streams"
maybe atariboy could chime in as to if it would actually provide less latency or not.

is it just me, or is the website amazingly void of any real information of what it does and/or how it works?

The manual in Comic Life style works brilliantly. Some people in the past claimed they found Wormhole to be hard to fathom. Not any more, if ever..Well done gang.

whoa, you where fast Beatsmith.. just uploaded that 5 mins ago and was coming here to tell you :) Added a 'sample' of the manual on the page too. http://plasq.com/wormhole - I did this in response to you saying there isn't enough info - and you where right.

adrian will answer any deeper tech questions better than I can so he will pop over here in the morning.. we both need sleep now..

Is there an upgrade path from version 1? I haven't even tried it after buying it and it would seem nice to have a little discount when upgrading.
