I think we're all talking about different Michael's. I knew I should have signed on as Lord Scorpion Viper!AdamJay wrote:work work work i believe.atariboy wrote: Where is Michael these days? I never see him on iChat anymore
and i think between Live and Wormhole 2, he got swamped with some beta testing
I'm right now playing with W2, Reactor in Logic on the tower, and Live 4 on the powerbook. Firing MIDI clips sent to the tower via Tiger's Network MIDI. It works very well compared to Worhole 1. Honestly I didn't really use Wormhole much, the latency was just too high, it's much better now.
This is great! I think this weekend is going to be NICE!

michael, i was thinking 'michael weeks' AKA endmusik(among other names link)
good to see it is working well for you.

what kind of latency are we talking about here?
is it useable for software instruments?
600ms seems a bit high

beatsmith, that is kind of high. i meant to say 600 samples. which is about 13ms.The Beatsmith wrote:what kind of latency are we talking about here?

sorry for the confusion
download the demo and see what kind of latency you get yourself.
i would think that it depends on alot. if using ethernet, the quality of the cable is a concern and i just grabbed the only ethernet cable i had lying around. also the in/out latency of the 'slave' machine's soundcard itself may be a concern.
its not something i would use for live recording, but for mixdowns or Reaktor addicts on G4s its quite handy.

Looks great. i'm having some trouble, though. I have a G4 1.33 laptop with Airport built-in, and a G5 dual 2Ghz. I'm using the ethernet port of my G5 to connect to a wireless router + cable. I've followed the simple instructions in the pdf but I can't get the G5 to hear the laptop. Should I be connecting the two using cables? I tried using FW800, but no go.

Hey Ned!. Try these points from the PAQ: http://plasq.com/wormhole/paq
Q. Why can't I make a connection?
A1. Before any connection can be made, the Wormhole2 channel needs to be given a name. This is necessary for the connection negotiation inside Wormhole2.
A2. The network might not be set up right. If any other network sercive like sharing files work, you are all set for WH2. What is important is that your network is a LAN and all the machines need to be on the same subnet (their IP addresses need to start with the same 2/3 numbers, depending on your subnet mask).
A3. Some network device (like a firewall) might be blocking the WH2 packets. In that case, please find out what type of firewall you are running and search the web for how to open ports 48100-48200 in that firewall.
That help at all?

Mike is finishing the next Wretch album, which I am co-mixing with him. It's being released on my "label". He's also been playing keyboards in my band (I, Parasite) live. And other stuff.
But this is way OT. I'll tell him people have been asking after him!

Well the machines have the same subnet, but file sharing seems to be broken, even though I've turned it on in the System Prefs. I can't access my G5 from my G4 PB (built-in Airport) using Network, as I keep getting a 'wrong password' message, even though I've tried both machines' admin pass (I'm the only user). Maybe that's the reason they're not WormHoling!

Did you get it working in the end Ned?
