Wave Editor development stopped?

Post by earthlinger » 18 Mar 2009, 03:36

I heard nothing from AE for a long time about the development of WaveEditor since the price drop. What's going on? Please bring 1.5 update this month which should include faster opening times of audio files & faster processing (like I used to with SoundForge)...

They are still releasing beta versions for testing, development is ongoing.

Oh my, no we haven't stopped:

Beta 15 is the last beta before the official release of 1.4.5. We're working on new screencasts and docs and whatnot. If you want to give it a try and want a beta license key, ping me.

Lots of updates coming in short order.

We're awaiting the latest updates to the iZotope Resampler and Wave Editor 1.4.5 will be officially released. FYI.

I just checked the date of 1.4.4 release: 10th November 2008

More than half-year passed with no official update. No 1.5, no 1.4.5, nothing.

Perhaps that means version 2 of WE is coming at the end of May 2009 with brand new audio engine which includes faster opening times of audio files & faster edit- processing (like I used to with SoundForge).

Perhaps.

If all the posts describing the actual status of the next Wave Editor update, between your March 18 post and your May 21 post, are just hallucinations, then perhaps.

The current beta (17) of 1.4.5 is the golden master. We had run into some issues with updated iZotope resamler and MBIT+. Obviously, things like that are out of our hands. The folks at iZotope, as always, worked very hard to resolve the issues and all is well in beta 17. Beyond that we wanted to spend a healthy amount of time qualifying the release. Now we're simply working on updating the docs and creating more screencasts. If you need a beta license key, contact support@audiofile-engineering.com and Chris will get you hooked up.

Please note, we are very open and up front about our development. All of our betas are public and you can subscribe to our appcasts, beta and release, via RSS feeds. We're also very responsive if contacted at our support email address and we also host our own forums.

I'm almost always using beta versions for real work, not just testing and had no problems. Updates are very frequent, only now, on 1.4.5 beta 17 they stopped, but it is a "silence before storm", I believe. I've purchased Wave Editor about a year ago and I'm very happy to have a deal with such a company, so, I was very affraid after seeing such a topic!!! :hehe:

We're still here. We spent the last month working on an iPhone app (RigRemote) and accessory (MIDI Mobilizer) for Planet Waves/Line 6 in preparation for the WWDC Keynote. We're behind, but when Apple invites you to participate in a keynote address, you don't say no!

Actually, your fact is wrong. ;) WE 1.4.5 posted on 2009-08-12. 1.4.6b4 posted on 2009-11-24. 1.4.6 will be officially released before the end of the year. WE 2.0 is slated for the first half of next year.
