Can't hear vocal tracks

Post by gshellard » 05 Aug 2013, 10:30

I am currently attempting to eat my own face as it seems easier than my current dilemma. I have been using GB for a few years now after converting to Mac. Recently I couldn't edit without GB crashing my latest track. So, I decided it was time to leave the garage and move to Logic. I imported my song and everything except for my vocal tracks plays perfectly. I thought i would just redo my vocals and the wave appears but no sound. Everything is unmuted, no solos, and the preferences are checked off under Audio for software and input monitoring. I have been checking all forums related to this problem but none of them seem to fit. Any suggestions?

You can see the waveform inside the part. It sounds like the parts are indeed there and ok.

Does the meter in the corresponding mixer channel light up when you play things back?

Where is each track being routed for output?

No meter activity unless set to record (then it lights up with mic hooked up). As for routing, this is where I get lost. I have clicked various inputs and bus' with no change in sound.

I have no idea how but it is fixed. I started a new audio track, tested it, sound came out. Even transferred the old audio regions into the new tracks and they played. I hate to make this over-used plot device reference from season one of Voyager but it must have been a spacial anomaly.

I'm reading power fluctuations in an EPS conduit!

If you aren't familiar with output routing in Logic, that should be the next thing you study. I'd wager that was the issue with the original files. A new project's default settings more than likely had things set to output correctly. But with an imported file, who knows?
