Logic X audio to midi/score FAIL

Post by mauisun » 31 Aug 2013, 10:46

Did Apple drop the ball on Audio to Midi or what?...Yeah, you can kind of get lacking results via Flex pitch but are you kidding me?

Hi G, no not FB. I guess they did drop it which is disappointing for sure. The only way around it that I see is initiating the transients via Flex, then putting it into flex pitch mode and "Flex Pitch to midi" which through my trial and error delivers sloppy inconsistent results. Anybody else find a way around?

I've been using Melodyne for generating midi from audio, because it works on polyphonic sources.

To get the audio to a point to transfer accurately you have to delete harmonics, then you have to edit the midi in detail.

It also depends on the instrument that was recorded, and if the audio has effects on it, then it's more difficult/ impossible to translate.
