APC40 troubleshooting

Hey gang, I have a new APC40 that isn't showing up in Live on my MBP. (I'm using Live 8.1.3 and OS X 10.6.3.) The lights come on, but I can't select it as a control surface in Live. If I check in Audio MIDI Setup, it appears as a "USB MIDI Device" with no input or output ports. All of the APC40 troubleshooting posts I can see on the ableton forum are for Windows XP users, so I was wondering if anyone here has seen a similar problem.

In case anyone has the same problem and finds this via Google: for whatever reason, deleting all of my other MIDI devices in Audio MIDI Setup enabled my computer to detect the APC40. I haven't tried to add them back yet, so I'm not sure if the problem was a conflict with one of the devices I had enabled or if something just got garbled.
