random pitch change

Postby lonbalon » Fri, 13 Aug 2010 11:29 am

hi all,
i'm getting random pitch change in built-in and vst instruments while playing, playing back and recording.
i'm using ableton live 8, but i had this problem in logic 9 so it might be something to do with snow leopard maybe.
any ideas?

Can you provide a little more detail about what you mean by "random pitch change?"

Whatever it is, if it's happening with multiple DAWs then I'd look to any controllers you might have connected.

Definitely sounds like a problematic/glitchy controller, this has been seen here before. Disconnect any controller you have and see if problem goes away. You also could look in Logic in the 'note in' meter (in the transport) and see if there are incoming controller values while nothing is playing (will look like a tiny fader).

thank you, guy for you replies.
i'm using oxygen 8 and an akai mpd24. problem was not occurring while controllers are disconnected and when playing instruments with the macbook's keyboard. i downloaded the latest driver for oxygen 8 and i'm waiting to see if this helps. for now it looks ok, but problem did appeared and disappeared with no visible reason in the past, so i can't be 100% sure.

In the past it was actually a faulty pitch wheel (might have been your same Oxygen 8 also but not sure), several people have created a pitch wheel filter (or turned it off in Logic), anyway good luck ;-)
