Automatic Drummer? What kind of mathematical expressions are we talking here?

No mathematical functions that I can find, but that's what Max is for. 8)

What Automatic Drummer seems to be is a generator that creates its own type of dynamic MIDI regions. The Drummer interface lets you change parameters based on certain musical descriptions like "Loud", "Soft", "Simple", and "Complex" arranged in an XY pad.

Actually seems like a pretty useful way to quickly set a mood with a scratch drum track to record other instruments to.

Ahoy early adopters!
What I'm mostly interested in is:
a) What is missing? The only thing I've noticed so far is EFM 1, which is sort of covered with the new synth...
b) any longstanding bugs squashed?
c) are the Environment & the Event list intact?

I'm sooo grateful for your info, because I'm sitting on the fence regarding upgrading...
Any info is heartily welcome! :P

EFM1 is still there.

Event List is there.

Environment is there.

Overall I'm surprised that everything seems to be intact even though it feels like it's been streamlined ("GarageBand Pro").

You'd have to mention some bugs for me to test in order to know about that.

Hi stringtapper - thanks for the quick info!
Nice to hear about about EFM1 - it wasn't mentioned here, that's why I asked:

A tad wiser now after glancing through the manual & watching the Macprovideo-tutorial.
So far my favorite part has been this (from the manual):
"The Environment is only available when Additional MIDI Options is selected in the Advanced preferences pane."
So they've finally managed to hide the scary environment from the unsuspecting innocent users...

I'm digging the 3x controls "hidden" under the insert buttons. It will take some getting used to, but I think it will rock. On the downside, we still have the same awful AU menu where all of our 3rd party plug-ins are stuck in sub-sub-menus.

Without scouring the manual yet, I haven't found a CPU meter or the old low-latency "perform" mode.

Regarding the price, I've been buying discount iTunes gift cards for the past two years, preparing for this day (this 20% off deal was still available this morning). If you wanted a break on Logic Pro X, that was the way to do it. I never had a doubt that this would be $199 flat. I can't think of another pro app this large that has an upgrade price of less.

Yeah, I thought at some point they may introduce upgrade pricing to the Mac App Store (and maybe the iOS App Store). But I guess not!

Can you compare the quality of Flex Pitch to Melodyne?

How is the new Step Editor vs the old Hyper Editor? Does it integrate nicely with drum designer for beat programming?

Thanks for the info thus far...

I haven't tried flex pitch a lot, but it seems pretty decent. I don't think it's on par with celemony studio, but still seems nice.
