RME has launched the Fireface UFX+, their 20th anniversary flagship interface. The Fireface UFX+ has an impressive channel count: 12 analog + 16 ADAT + 2 AES + 64 MADI = 94 channels input plus output = 188 channels in total. That’s 128 more channels than the previous model Fireface UFX. Thunderbolt technology gives this interface real PCI Express audio performance on a cable, with very low latency, system overhead, and CPU load. USB 3.0 connectivity is also built-in. The Fireface UFX+ features DURec (Direct USB Recording) to a flash drive plugged right into the front panel, more powerful DSP for internal TotalMix FX mixing, EQ, Dynamics, Reverb, and Delay, and a new optional ARC USB remote control. The ARC USB has 15 freely assignable and illuminated buttons, one encoder wheel, and a TS jack to connect a foot switch. Or go wireless with TotalMix FX for iPad, which gives you full control over the hardware mixer and DSP effects.
The RME Fireface UFX+ is available now for $2299. It requires macOS 10.6 or later and an available Thunderbolt or USB 3.0 port. The interface is also USB 2.0 compatible, though with a reduced number of channels and no MADI record or playback.
