After MAGIX acquired Sony Creative Software products nearly a year ago, their continued support of the Mac platform was in question. The Mac version of Sound Forge Pro was nowhere to be found. Thankfully, Sound Forge Pro Mac 3 is here, and MAGIX is announcing that they’re going to develop the Sound Forge Pro series even further.
Sound Forge Pro has previously included iZotope’s impressive 64-bit sample rate conversion (SRC) and MBIT+Dither technology. That hasn’t changed. Sound Forge Pro Mac 3 now also includes iZotope’s RX Elements spectral audio editor and its four audio-enhancing plugins (De-Clip, Voice De-Noise, De-Hum, and De-Click), a $129 value, along with Ozone Elements, the presets-only version of their mastering plugin, also worth $129. New processes added to the native Sound Forge arsenal include noise gate, reverb, simple delay, chorus, and flange. Automatic Loudness Leveling combined with the Loudness Meters ensure compliance with broadcast loudness regulations such as the CALM Act (Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act). Sound Forge Pro Mac 3 also does Mastered for iTunes auditioning, automatic clip detection, dynamic rendering through plugins for CD burning, and the ability to edit audio from modern video formats like XAVC, XDCAM, and AVCHD.
MAGIX Sound Forge Pro Mac 3 is available now for $299. It requires macOS 10.9 or later. According to MAGIX, Sound Forge Pro Mac 3’s release marks the starting point for the further development of the Sound Forge product family. Their developers in Germany and the US are currently working on Sound Forge Audio Studio as well as Sound Forge Pro 12, which will be released in the next 12 months.
