Re: Logic Pro X additional content download?

I've been downloading the additional content all weekend and I've received several messages saying that the content can't be downloaded. I restart the installer and it continues where it left off but it's a very slow and arduous process! I also want to move the entire sound library on to my external...

Re: Logic Pro X additional content download?

Thanks for your info G! I downloaded and installed Logic Pro X last night and everything is working fine so far! :) Regarding additional content, once the app itself was installed, this dark blue download bar came up indicating that it was downloading the sound library and that it would take at leas...

Reason 7 opinions.

I updated to Reason 7 a couple of weeks ago and was hoping for some user feedback. I'm yet to get my hands dirty but will report back here once that happens :)

Audio interface with 8 mic press & SPDIF for 2011 iMac?

I'm currently using an Avid/M Audio C600 desktop USB2 interface and I'm very happy with it. However, I'm also looking at a 'bigger' audio interface (firewire or USB2) with 8 mic pres, SPDIF (to use with my SPDIF Joe Meek Twin Q preamp) and possibly ADAT I/O to add further I/O down the track (this is...

Logic Pro X additional content download?

So after years of speculating and wandering if it will ever arrive, here it is just a week short of the 4th anniversary of the release of Logic 9! :) I understand that the 'core' library is 5GB in size once LPX has been installed. Information also suggests that you then have access to an additional ...

Re: Native Instruments Komplete 8 & Komplete 8 Ultimate.

If I didn't already have so many 3rd party VIs and fx plug ins, I would have purchased K8 Ultimate in a heartbeat. It's just that I already have so much stuff in my computer set up that I haven't mastered yet that I'll keep working with what I have and then wait and see what NI do with K9 later on t...

Re: Protools 10

I'm glad that your rolling in so much dough that $500 is nothing for an upgrade that doesn't really bring that much new to the table..... and you don't need to list what's new in PT10 because I've already listed the new features above. Seriously, when Protools was Digidesign, they'd release updates ...

Re: Protools 10

IMHO the $500.i would have to pay is purely and simply highway robbery (I am still on PT 8LE). Avid is now too "professional" for us to be able to afford to continue using Protools! The $500 would be better spent on upgrading to Komplete 8 ultimate or putting towards Logic 10! I have nothing against...

Upgrading my imac- what to look for?

I've been using imacs in my studio with much success since 2006. I currently have a 'slightly ageing' 24", 2.8GHZ imac with 4GB RAM (2008 model). I was looking at one of the 2010 models but they don't have thunderbolt unlike the 2011 models. I might also use it for some 'light duty' video editing wi...

Re: The best interface on a modest budget: Saffire or?

The Focusrite Saffire 24DSP would be good for your needs. They're firewire, expandable via ADAT I/O has phantom powered mic inputs onboard as well as 2 headphone outs (a big deal iMHO). In addition, the onboard DSP allows you to monitor yourself or your 'talent' using the unit's built in DSP with ve...

Re: Protools 10

There's a few ways of doing the equivalent of shuffle mode in DP. If you're editing using start/end times and key commands, you use what DP calls "snip" (so cut out the specified region and everything after that moves up to close the gap.) Or if you use the mouse and cutting tools, you hold down mo...

Re: Protools 10

DP7 is great for PT converts, its audio editing does compare very nicely. And it is solid as a rock... Thanks for that info Kubi :) Does DP7 have 'shuffle' mode editing like Protools? Logic has this essential feature since V7 and it's vital for my radio preproduction work. I've always been very int...

Re: Protools 10

Exactly. I feel that AVID are even bigger rip off merchants than Digidesign was before them...... Digi ripped us off by forcing us to use their hardware as a dongle for the software. Now Avid comes along and offers us premium upgrade prices to add features that other DAWs have had for years. I fail ...
