Yeah man. Check out Speakerphone or a bit of EQ. Totally worth it.

Re: The official 64-bit software topic and poll

Really? Apple doesn't seem to give any warning of voiding the warranty in their instructions. (Looks kind of easy, too.) Hopefully it wasn't a salesperson relating this info. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1270 Sadly it was. I find the sales people especially after the iPhone release are woefully mi...

Also know that the key commands in Logic can be changed to Pro Tool ones in
Logic>Preferences>Key Commands>Options>Preset

or type "option k" and then hit the Options drop down>Preset

Re: iMic and low volume problem?

Sadly the iMic is kind of trash. Probably better off buying a cheap audio interface like an AudioFire 2 and a SM57.

Re: Investing a Mac desktop for music composition

Much easier to justify for CG / high definition video where rendering benefits enormously from having more CPU cores and the much higher performance graphic cards accelerate the workflow. Exactly music/sound can get intensive but it's becoming easier and easier to accomplish these things with the i...

Re: Investing a Mac desktop for music composition

Apple no longer uses big events to announce new macs. They probably will quietly release new hardware the evening before or something similar. I don't know where you heard the rack unit rumor but I'd be surprised if it turned out to be true. I just don't think they want to come close to a server mar...

Re: Investing a Mac desktop for music composition

G-Dub rasises a good point. It is better to separate them out but its not a requirement and if you don't you need to follow the 10% rule of system drive maintenance. Which is to leave 10% of your drive free at all times for the swap files G-Dub mentioned.

Re: Investing a Mac desktop for music composition

Not much pros and cons now a days due to the size and speed of hard drives but its always good to separate out uses if possible but not much noticeable difference now a days.

Re: iMic and low volume problem?

The mic sounds like the room you are recording in to me as well. Its odd to me that the blanket wouldn't change the sound, unless the blanket is a knitted one with holes in it. When you put year head under the covers you hear a noticeable difference right? The mic you should hear that too. How are y...

Re: Investing a Mac desktop for music composition

The processor won't help much with your samplers. What really matters is the speed of your HDD and the amount of RAM an SSD is perfect for this and 16GB is substantial. I have 8GB on my MBP and I find its good. I'd think 16GB would be fine for you especially if you are currently still on the 2006 co...
