Re: Any Tips for Keeping Mixer Environment Tidy?

My tip is to ditch the old way (i have auto-loads with real multi's and all sorts of detail) These days i start projects totally ground up on the Arrange which i do customise the view, but it seems a quicker load and no walls or pre formatted structure type clutter from the ground up ,thought id just...

Good one John.
Nice to hear that they didn't just go for bells and whistles but the less flashy improvements, something easily overlooked especially here.

Re: Slim Phatty sending weird CC info to Logic

Settings>Midi>Input Filter. Firstly check off Control Changes & System Exclusive. Also as I don't use much Poly or Mono Aftertouch i turn them off as they tend to send Heaps of congestive midi data especially if your programming drums and bass or parts that dont need aftertouch, turn these back on if...

Re: Can someone help me out with Time Flex

The last tempo of 114 compared to the recorded tempo of 130bpm is a bit of a stretch.

In a groove Its the softer 8th or 16 th note hi hats or ghost notes in between the main hits that really show if you get it right.
In this case it worked out well.

Re: Can someone help me out with Time Flex

Yeah it gets really whacky sometimes. In some cases it depends on how complicated it is and how you go about it. >edit< If you use transient markers then hand edit you may get great results. And you need your wits about you when it multi channel Drum mics.Tip is to use Groups and check phase locking ...

Re: Can someone help me out with Time Flex

If the tempo changes are "already" programmed in Logics Tempo menu for this song. You should try turning ON "follow tempo" parameter for the drums tracks. Cant remember if you just need to run flex (no editing) in rhythm mode on the tracks first but it wouldn't hurt. This should take you 10 minutes ...

Re: Investing a Mac desktop for music composition

Value wise I would go for the Mac Mini except if i had a need for a flash big screen the more grunt or speed may be important. As usual it all depends on budget/usage/needs. Thunderbolt is on both those machines so that is a good step forward.

Is it true that the new mac pros are going half as wide as the current model and also flipped on the side to be 3U 19" rack compatible.

Re: Making tempo "breathe" a little

I like Muleskinners last idea of tempo shifts have your verse or intro bits a bit more relaxed and pump it for the chorus just like real people do.Take the end up and up. You can put a 1 beat trick stop right where your 2nd section or chorus (as example) starts its a really amazing effect but be war...
