The World Cup has begun!!!

Post by Garzita » 11 Jun 2010, 18:28

Who you rooting for?

Who do you is going to take the trophy?

ooooh man, am so excited, we barely got a tie today but oh, well, considering Mexico's usual luck in the World Cup it was a positive!!!

Ole, ole ole ole...
...but then a strange fear gripped me
and I just couldn't ask.

Loving it. And since the games are in the AM here on US West coast, it doesn't really cut too badly into my work day (or into Lakers finals for that matter...) :D :D :D

Four teams are left in the tournament: Diego Forlan's Uruguay will face the Dutch National team and the surprising German side will take the Spanish superstars. It will be the best football game ever.. Too bad for brazil, argentina and england. They will have their shot after 4 years.

I predict Germany and the Netherlands in the final.

FIFA needs to do some soul-searching. Bad calls and blatant cheating have marred many of the matches.

I know it is a longstanding way of doing things, but I hope there are no more penalty shootouts. Dumb way to end such important games.

I've seen quite a few good matches and will miss it when it is over, especially the vuvuzelas!

I also predict Germany vs. Netherlands in the final, with Germany edging out.

I've been in Spain for the last 4 weeks, and will be here through the end of the tournament. I would love to see Spain knock off Germany. I believe Spain is currently a half-goal favorite, but after seeing Germany trounce Argentina 4-0 with less possession time, less corners, and less shots on goal i think Germany has the edge and certainly the momentum.
When Spain won last week the entire country exploded in celebration, and that was just the quarter-final! The Spaniards i've talked to seem to be just as pessimistic as i am about their chances against Germany, can't wait to see how it all plays out!
