Airwindows AU plugins?

Post by Ulven » 08 May 2007, 01:03

I just downloaded the free "channel" plugin and it does something nice to my tracks, especially the Neve setting.

I did a search for Airwindows here but found very little.

Link: Airwindows

The UIs are simple, but I like it simple these days :) I'm old.

So, does any of you have any experience with the other plugins? There is no demo exept some mp3s, and although the price is right it adds up pretty fast if you buy several of them.

Anyone?

Whoa. :D

I'm the developer. Hi!

I only just signed up to BigBlueLounge today, following a link from Apple's website, and I thought I'd see what was up in the effects forum, since I saw a much bigger Logic section here than in other forums...

...and this is the FIRST THREAD I saw. AWESOME. Ask me anything, guys, I'm more moved than I can express that you guys are talking about my work when I've only had it out there on the market for a couple months and never bugged you to notice it at all. Best. Forum. Ever :)

I'll try to answer what questions I've seen- including some stuff that will come as a surprise. I'm delighted someone likes the simplicity of the UI- it seems to make some people mad, and all I'm trying to do is devote my entire effort to the sound and get more instances of everything happening at once. I've done a Cocoa view as a test and it ate six times the CPU of the generic plug when you did anything, which is awful. Haven't totally given up finding a happy medium- if I do come up with a non-CPU-hurty custom UI, every existing customer gets it free (if they gave a legit email to Kagi, that is). I do like the fact that when you run any of my plugs it uses NO cpu on graphics and NO cpu on copy protect. Those things add up...

I know the price adds up if you buy all 33 plugins but I think of it as, that IS the bundle price already, and I don't penalize people who can only get them one at a time, that way. Get only what you need. It's my job to help you understand that you do indeed need all of them for your life to be a complete, limitless vista of sonic possibility :D

What I've found works best for that- since I don't build in copy-protection (or as I think of it 'treachery-ware' because it's code only there to hurt you if it doesn't trust you)- is free samples like Channel, and now, many others (would you believe ten?). For instance, Channel includes one stage of the Density plugin on a slider, and presets (the 'Neve' etc) for Slew and Highpass. I got the values by measuring impulses for some Neve, API and SSL gear, even though there's no really normal way to do that- I think it worked. Neve has the most narrow frequency response of the three.

I mentioned many others, didn't I? ;)

Some of that is from a recent project that most people haven't heard about yet, where I've started making speaker cabinet simulations that actually model cone overload, which I don't think anybody else does yet. The store has 4*12 cabinet models for sale, the freebies are little amps plus a hell of an SVT cab model that allows you to mix in DI sound and shift the phase.

Time to start sticking 'probably the best X out there' stickers on more things ;) what's the point of trying to do stuff if you're not going to try to excel? That doesn't include 'best bitmapped graphical picture of a fake glowing toob all over the interface', mind you ;)

If you have any questions about the ten freebies I just dumped in your lap, ask away, I'll check back often to see if there's anything I need to answer. :)

Hey chrisj, welcome to BigBlueLounge! Thanks for stopping by and make yourself at home. The only thing we ask of developers is that they not get into spamming us relentlessly. When you have a new product, feel free to tell us about it of course, and if someone has a question about one of your products, by all means answer them. We're a very friendly bunch here and I'm glad to have you. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me at any time.

A quick test of the CabSVT added to a DI bass guitar sounds very nice. Thanks for these! Downloading more now, and will see what's in your store soon.

What's happening? They shouldn't be zips, they are .dmg files which is a disk image.

No, but I understand you can do that with Plogue Bidule with only minor CPU overhead :)

Vive Plogue Art et Technologie Inc! I am so grateful.

Actually I have some plugins that _cannot_ be VST because they depend on AU's built-in latency compensation...
