Elemental Audio/RND plug-in status?

Post by jb » 02 Mar 2010, 22:10

I've been "away" for a while. I'm curious to know if anyone with the plug-ins that RND took over from Elemental Audio is able to use them under Leopard/Snow Leopard? I'm still at 10.4.11, but I wonder about updating. It appears that RND is MIA (or, RIP may be more fitting?)... has anyone been able to get any sort of response from them regarding ongoing support and development?

I owned every one of the Elemental Audio products, and paid the fee to switch them over to RND's, and I usually use at least some of them in every project I do. It would be a real tragedy to see these plugs just go away.

The last version I have of 'Detailer' is working here on an Intel (Nehalem) Mac Pro w/10.5.8. My installer was downloaded around August?

hard not to think that they will become "vintage" software sooner or later.

I have the freebie Inspector, and it's still working for me in Leopard, 10.5.8. Can't confirm SL.

Sadly, I think you're probably right. What a shame. What I'd really like to see, given that RND evidently isn't going to be offering further support, would be for Elemental to be able to pick these up again. But I'm sure that their agreement with RND will keep that from happening. Still, maybe a 'breech of contract' situation might allow for that, I would think. Elemental was always so great with their approach to support.. something that RND never quite seemed to have going for them.

Thanks for the responses.

I, too, would like to see that but does Elemental Audio still exist? Their website looks to have been updated last in 2006.

kind of a drag. pretty lame "partnership" or turn of events etc. RND must have sold elemental some big line of BS (or given them a little truck full of money) to get their hands on the plugs.

I'm sure Elemental was probably going on what they thought was Roger's stellar reputation. Oh well.

There isn't any helpful info at elementalaudio.com, but the domain is still registered through 2015, so I figure someone must still 'be there.' I've tried making contact by email, but so far have gotten no response. We'll see... keep your fingers crossed.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Los Angeles, California
Febuary 23, 2008
To all interested parties,

Reinhold Probst at http://www.rndigital.org and his machinations do not represent me, my views or the views of my companies Roger Nichols Digital or RNDigital. I will support existing plug-ins as well as I can, but under the circumstances and due to complications as a result of legal action, the scope of my involvement will be limited for the time being.

Guided by integrity, right action and with the continuing support of family and friends, I look forward to many more years of participation in the exciting field of audio, as well as mentoring the next generation of ideas and the people who dream them up.

I would like to sincerely thank the many customers, and colleagues who have supported my effort in this and other creative endeavors over the last four decades of my career in audio, and ask for your patience during this difficult transition period.
For questions or more information please e-mail to: info@rndigital.com

Yes, thanks David, I saw that :(

All of a sudden plug-ins and petty disputes seem very unimportant...he was a great contributor to the field and my sympathies to his family and friends.
