How do I delete finder window items in Favorites column?

Here's a random question that's been bugging me. How do I delete items inadvertently placed in the finder Favorites column? Also I have two PDF files at the top of the finder window. I can't delete them. Obviously I'm missing something simple and obvious. I teach guitar from time to time.

Wow. I knew this would happen. I have had this for a LONG time and tried and tried. Now for some reason I tried selecting and holding control and it gave me a dialogue to remove. I got it to remove al by myself. Thanks anyway! The PDFs are still there though! I'll probably figure that out, but feel free to give me a shout out about that too!

Well, you hardly gave us enough time, but for anyone else: Right-click (or Control-Click), Remove from Sidebar. Or for up top, Right-click, Customize Toolbar and drag them out.
