Hi, i tried Ableton Live and Logic, this time via the built in Headphone out of my Retina Macbook pro, and it is still the same, the signal not totally vanishes from the opposite panning (L/R) Side, even though there is no signal showing in the mixer of the Daws. With the direction Mixer in Logic i tried „Pan Right“/„Pan Left“, and also the track Levelmeter/Mixer doesn’t show any level, but unwanted sound remains.
I also have this phenomenon, when i go to System preferences/Audio and use the Panning slider there. Right now I’m wondering, whether it is „normal“ and i just didn’t notice it before…
My Findings so far:
1. It happens on the two MacBooks of mine(One with Retina and Mavericks, one older Model with Snow Leopard), with different Headphones.
2. It happens with the built in Audio Out, Apogee One and Metric Halo ULN8 (different fresh Templates/MiO Mixer). (Latest Drivers, Headphones and nearfield monitors)
3. it happens with Presonus Studio One, Logicx, Ableton Live, Itunes
So it seems to be a problem of the Mac Os, since external Hardware/Audio Interfaces, Different Daws and different Computers (even though with different Mac Osx Versions)
don’t make a difference.
Hm.
Best Regards, Frank

Hi Frank — Yes, or I've just never noticed anything unexpected with my ears or with external metering. I'll try to remember to check the next time I'm in a pro app. How much extra signal are we talking about? Does it happen when manually muting one side of a stereo audio file, or are you specifically talking about pan controls? If so, are you panning an originally mono signal, or "balancing" a stereo signal?
