Friends:
I have removed the HDD from my old iMac (2006). I did semi pro work with this machine but quit about 6 years ago. There is a ton of great authorized/licensed software on that drive which cost a fortune back in the day but haven't been upgraded since I quit. I've been gifted a 2010 Mac Pro. I should be able to drop the old drive directly into the Mac Pro and run all of the old programs, but I'd really like to port all the stuff on the old drive (which is making bad sounds, not atypical for a 12 y.o. drive) to one of the new drives. I'm familiar with some of the transfer protocols, but I'm guessing I'd need to reauthorize everything once it all lands on the new drive, correct? I'm trying to avoid that because of the sheer volume of instruments, effects, and DAWs (and, obviously, the cost: I don't want or need to upgrade at this point). A couple (Bias Peak and Waves) are on iLok dongles so they shouldn't be a problem, but all the other stuff (DP, Live, Reaktor, Pluggo, Plogue Bidule, Numerology, etc) are not. I'm really excited about getting back into making music (some of my stuff is here: https://sebsi.bandcamp.com/releases) and am grateful for any help on this topic. - Winslow
