It's that time of year again!

This topic is for compatibility news related to macOS Big Sur (macOS 11.0) as well as the transition from Intel to Apple silicon.

Updates may be made after we post. We will link directly to developer compatibility statements where possible. As always, triple check everything on your system before a major upgrade.

Users and developers, please post and update at will!
Exactly what I needed, thank you! I'll be sure to follow this thread and site.

Thank you!

Plugin Alliance

https://www.facebook.com/pluginalliance ... 4629117917
We are happy to announce that all of our products are compatible with the recent macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 update.

Notice that if you own a machine with a new Apple M1 Chip already though, we are not ready for that yet. We are currently working hard on qualifying this, too.
Update 29 Mar 2021

https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/news ... 01.21.html
New Major Update for Our Plugins
This free Maintenance Update affects a big subset of Plugin Alliance products and brings many bug fixes and improvements.

With this, we are already compatible with Logic on Apple Silicon devices via the Rosetta-2 layer. Up to date, many other DAWs like Pro Tools are not yet officially qualified for Apple Silicon devices, however, we have tested our plugins to also work fine via the Rosetta-2 layer with:

• Ableton 10/11
• StudioOne 5.2
• Reaper 6.18
Update 14 Mar 2022

https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/news ... 01.22.html
Maintenance Update 01.22
  • Added native Apple Silicon M1 compatibility for VST3, VST2 and AU (except AAX)
Most, but not all, plugins are included. See link for details.

Sonnox (Sony Oxford)

https://sonnox.freshdesk.com/support/so ... atibility/
Sonnox have been working closely with Apple with each beta release of macOS 11 Big Sur and at this present time, we are unable to guarantee compatibility with the latest MacOs and the Sonnox Range. And the new M1 ARM based Macs machines will not be compatible with any Sonnox plugins until we have completed further testing on this platform.
Update 27 Apr 2021
If you have already upgraded to a new Apple Silicon system, You will find many of our plugins will function using Apple's Rosetta 2, which translates applications built for Intel in order to run on the new Apple Silicon platform. However, due to this emulation process, it is likely that some plugins may appear different, or not function as expected. Known problems are listed below -
  • Slow loading instantiation times, which can lead to system overloads and crashes. Particularly in larger projects, and when instantiated during playback.
  • Plugin GUIs may appear 'washed', or slightly discoloured due to the translation of graphics on Rosetta 2.
We will continue to update this article with any new developments on known issues and compatibility.
Update 24 Jun 2022

https://www.sonnox.com/news/apple-silicon-compatibility
We're pleased to say we can now offer Apple silicon native versions for some of our products. We will be rolling out updates as soon as they are ready. So, for an up-to-date list with direct links to the installers, please keep an eye on this page.

M-Audio

M-Audio has been actively testing all applicable hardware and software products with each beta release of macOS 11 Big Sur. We understand how important it is for all our users to know exactly what works before they make the jump on any new updates. Please refer to this article for all M-Audio hardware and software compatibility with macOS 11 Big Sur.

For this reason, we encourage all our dedicated M-Audio hardware and software owners to refrain from updating to macOS 11 Big Sur until compatibility with the new operating system can be confirmed.

Tokyo Dawn Labs

We're glad to inform you that our plugins already support Mac OS Big Sur.

Our latest plugins Molot GE and Molotok natively support the Apple Silicon platform.

All other products seem to run fine in intel emulation mode, but we'll rework all software for native Apple Silicon support. These updates will be rolled out soon.

FabFilter

https://www.fabfilter.com/forum/6375/ma ... patibility
We have now tested with the release candidate version of macOS 11 / Big Sur on an Intel Mac and didn't find any problems with our current plug-in versions.

Again, for production systems we generally recommend to wait with upgrading to a new macOS version until the first update.

Our Intel plug-ins will also work well on a new Apple Silicon Mac using Rosetta 2. We are working on native Apple Silicon plug-in versions and are planning to release these soon.
Update 10 Dec 2020
Spearheading that optimization in the pro audio sector, FabFilter is proud to announce the introduction of Apple Silicon compatibility across its entire catalogue. Every effect and instrument in the range — from the Pro-Q 3 equalizer, Pro-L 2 true peak limiter, and Pro-C 2 compressor to the Pro-R reverb, Saturn 2 multiband distortion, Twin analogue synth, and beyond — now loads natively in macOS Big Sur running on Apple Silicon (or as a Universal Binary on Intel Macs), in VST2, VST3, and AU formats. And drawing on their extensive experience of porting to iPad, the company didn’t stop there, going on to optimize CPU usage across their product line specifically for M1.

“We’ve been making plugins for iOS for years, so we were already familiar with ARM processors and have done a lot of ARM-specific optimization work over time,” says FabFilter co-founder Frederik Slijkerman. “Porting that to the Apple Silicon Mac was a relatively easy and quick process, but, of course, we took the time to further fine-tune our code to tailor it to the new M1 processors.”

UJAM

https://support.ujam.com/hc/en-us/artic ... ws-11-VST3
We recommend you to wait a bit longer before updating your operating system, as we cannot guarantee that every ujam plug-in will work as expected at this point.
Update 12 Mar 2021
Virtual Guitarist products have been updated to support macOS 11 Big Sur on Intel-based and ARM Silicon Macs.
Update 1 Sep 2022

The new Beatmaker Berserk is Apple Silicon native. No other UJAM plugins are currently native, despite the vague wording from 2021 above. That document appears to have been deleted.

Update 15 Sep 2022

via email
With the release of Beatmaker 2.2.0, all Beatmaker plug-ins are now compatible on both Apple Silicon as well as macOS 12 Monterey.

Valhalla DSP

https://valhalladsp.com/2020/10/13/valh ... r-64-bits/
We have officially updated all of the Valhalla plugins for autumn 2020! The changes across the plugin line:

• VST3 (in addition to VST 2.4, AAX, Audio Units)
• Ready for Big Sur!
• Signed and notarized installers for Macs
Asked in comments whether their plugins work on Apple Silicon Macs:
Yes, as they run in Rosetta on Apple Silicon. This has been verified by people running the ARM powered Mac development kits. We will be porting to Apple Silicon in the next quarter.
Update 16 Dec 2020

https://www.facebook.com/ValhallaDSP/po ... 8762617226
I picked up a new M1 MacBook Air on Monday. By Tuesday, I had ValhallaSupermassive ported to a native ARM version. I thought these ports would take a LOT longer! Working on this new Mac is truly a pleasure - easy to carry around the house, no fan noise, fast as can be.

Anyway, we are happy to announce that the 1.2.2 Intel/ARM Mac beta of Supermassive is available to download! If you have an ARM Mac, give it a spin. The upper right of the GUI will let you know if you are running the Intel or Mac version.

https://www.facebook.com/dspquattro/pos ... 1915902938
The officially available version 5.5 of DSP-Quattro is fully compatible with MacOS 11 Big Sur under Rosetta 2, and it runs very fast as well.

We also have a beta version 5.6 of DSP-Quattro which is a Universal application and which runs natively at full speed on ARM-Based Macs. It is really very promising and we expect to release it in a few weeks!
